I was reading through old Xanga posts and I stumbled upon this. I wrote this on 10/24/2005. Two days after my grandfather passed. To this day I remember it so vividly. It was without a doubt the single most moving event of my life so far. He was a great man and I miss him dearly. I am posting my original blog in its entirety (spelling mistakes and corny signature included). I was an insightful little bugger.

on one of the last days of my grandpas life he asked a question…he wasnt sure if he had accomplished anything in life….of course everyone began reminding him of things and showing him small things that lead to a huge signifigance.
my grandpa was a high school graduate, a paratrooper, got his bachelors degree, got his masters degree, was a high school principal, a assistant super attendant to a high school, owned (with my dad) a construction buissness, an active member of his church, taught a bible study for 30 years, a loving husband, a father, and to me a grandfather worth looking up to.
my grandpa had over 300 different people come and visit him at his home before he died, had 100s of cards and flowers (he got 25 two days ago), and 500+ people at his funeral…..to me that shows what kind of a life he lived. he lived a life worth mimicking, he impacted that many people in such a positive way for them to come to his funeral to honor and respect him.
my grandpa accomplished alot in his life, and it gives me something to look at as how to live as a christian man…it gives me a something to aim at and hopefully i will be able to live a life as effective as his..,
